1st Dec vs The Jesters at RAC
Shean vs Garner 1/3
Maree vs Bristow 3/1
Garas vs Kadar 3/2
Fourie vs Sutcliffe 1/3
Thomson vs Hargrave 2/3
A narrow 3-2 loss for the Knights side.
Thomson was last on court and was the decider in the fixture. After being down 8-4 in the 4th game he was able to save 7 match balls and win the game. Unfortunately he couldn't pull the same heroics out the bag and Joss Hargrave was able to win the game with his 10th match ball. Great effort from Dan. Stef was MOTM for a great 3/2 win.

2nd Dec vs Oxford and Cambridge Club / Escorts
Garas vs Sutcliffe 2/3
Maree vs Stauton 3/1
Shean vs Ryan 3/0
Thomson vs Smith 2/3
Fourie vs Curtis 3/0
Knights won 3-2.
After quite an eventful evening the night before the guys pulled it together to give a fine showing vs this great club. The Knights snuck in against tough opposition and did well to win this fixture. Again this fixture went down to the wire and at 2 all Mike Shean was able to bring it home for the boys in a tough 3 setter vs Marc Ryan. MOTM was Charl who had a resounding victory vs their captain of the evening Dominic Curtis.

3rd December vs Roehampton
Maree vs Richardson 1/3
Shean vs Carnero 3/0
Garas vs Coates 3/1
Thomson vs Findlay 3/0
Fourie vs Lindsay 3/1
SA Knights bag a 4-1 victory.
A long trip and being lost countless times didn't deprive the boys from pulling of our second victory in as many days. After we had wrapped up the fixture 4-0, Kyle went on court with the daunting task of taking on Stevie Richardson, a man yet to lose to a South African on the SA Knights tour. Kyle played some fantastic stuff but narrowly lost in 4 seriously brutal games. MOTM went to Mike Shean although all 5 played some quality ball.

4th December vs Coolhurst Squash
Kyle Maree vs Nick Sutcliffe 3/1
Michael Shean vs Alex Crouch 3/1
Charl Fourie vs Akim Newrzella 2/3
Stefano Garas vs Nick Lomax 3/0
Daniel Thomson vs James Paige 3/0
Knights won 4-1.
After what turned out a rather eventful evening in Roehampton the Knights took plenty time on Thursday to recover and get ready for what again turned out to be a gruelling fixture at Coolhurst, although we won 4-1, each match was super tight and the guys managed to play the big points really well, hat-trick of wins!!!
Well done to
Kyle who registered our first win at number one on the tour and was able to get one over Nick Sutcliffe. Although we have only played 4 fixtures we have come up against Nick 3 times and it was vital we didn't let him come away with a 3 wins from 3 matches. For his great performance Kyle got MOTM and he really looks to be going from strength to strength on the tour. Stef also put forward a dominating performance and was really convincing in victory. Coolhurst were a fantastic host club, thanks must go out to the club and the members at the fixture.

5th December vs Colets Health and Fitness Club
After a comedy of errors and some scrambling the Knights arrived a little late for the next fixture against Colets Health and Fitness Club. A strong team awaited us but we hoped to be up for a tough challenge. We quickly found ourselves reeling at 2 matches down and requiring to win the remaining 3 matches. Stef was able to make a great comeback from 2-0 and 10-8 down to sneak it home for the boys, mammoth effort from Steph. Mike was on the opposite court and saw a 2-0 lead ...slip away and had it all to play for in the 5th to keep the fixture alive. Luckily he did so and won 3-2. It was all up to Charl who unfortunately came up against a better player on the day. It was great to see Charl fight and give it his all but he just couldn't get us over the line. Charl made us proud leaving nothing out there.
Kyle Maree vs Scott Handley 0/3
Stefano Garas vs Guy Olby 3/2
Michael Shean vs Alex Couch 3/2
Charl Fourie vs Alex Waddington 1/3
Daniel Thomson vs Matt Costain 0/3

SA Knights lost the fixture, the score was 2-3.
MOTM: Stef Garas for a great comeback!

8th December vs Bexley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club
We started our second week of fixtures with many sore bodies but were motivated to improve our record of 50%. Off to Bexley Lawn Tennis and squash club we went.
Mike was on court first and started us on the right foot winning the first game before losing the match 3-1. Ben was able to win the crucial points and Mike actually won more points than his opponent. Kyle Maree was on the other court and lost in 3 tough sets to up and coming rising star Brad Masters. Brad is certainly one to watch out for in the future. We found ourselves 2 down and again in trouble needing to win the last 3 matches to clinch the fixture. Both Charl and Stefano were well convincing in victory winning their games 3-0. Last on court was Dan and he grinded his opponent into submission, although he went 2-1 down his opponent was working overtime and eventually Dan was able to come away with the win. Congrats to Dan on a dogged performance that found him winning the MOTM award and fixture for the SA Knights.
Michael Shean vs Ben Ford 1/3
Kyle Maree vs Brad Masters 0/3
Stefano Garas vs Gary Nishet 3/0
Charl Fourie vs Matt Green 3/0
Daniel Thomson vs Christian Donelan 3/2
SA Knights won 3-2
A Special thank you to Peter Lewis and Bexley for their great hospitality on the evening.

Tuesday 9th vs Cardiff/ Wales
After waking up on borrowed time, we packed our bags, tried to clean the flat and headed for the train to get to Joe Richardson on time. Today was the day we left our flat in Marylbone and headed on our journey across the country. We somehow found ourselves late again but eventually all worked out as we picked up the cars and dropped our stuff at the Richardson family. Maggie, Joe’s wife , was extremely helpful and guided us well prepared for our trip to Cardiff.
Kyle Maree vs Elliot Morris 3/0
Stefano Garas vs Jon jones 3/1
Michael Shean vs Llyod Rutter 3/0
Daniel Thomson vs Josh Lee 3/1
Charl Fourie vs Dan Christopher 3/2

SA Knights won 5-0.
We came up against a youthful but talented Cardiff side. The guys showed determination and good experience to close out their game and win the big points. Stef at one stage found himself at 10-4 down in the 3rd and was able to come back and win the game and close out the fixture in the 4th. Others were clinical. MOTM went to Michael Shean for his 3-0 victory which saw his opponent get two points.
We spent the evening celebrating the victory in fine style, we spend most of the evening (and early next morning) in Revolution which was great. We spent most of the evening out and about neglecting the fact we had to be up bright and early for the fixture in Isle of Wight the next day.

Wednesday 10th of December vs Isle of Wight
After quite an eventful night out the Knights again woke up in even more borrowed time, we spent most of the morning lost but eventually got onto our ferry to the Isle of Wight. We were the last passengers on and last passengers off the ferry as we took the trip to recoup some sleep and get some food in. We spent most of the afternoon at a bus stop and the bus cost the team 18pound. We ended up on the other side of the island and even more lost so we ended up catching an 8pou...nd taxi to the courts. Some guys used our over eager earliness to catch up some more sleep while Michael Shean spent an hour or two on court with two up and coming youngsters, Emily (9) and Ben (11).
Stefano Garas vs Adam Dominey 0/3
Charl Fourie vs Callum Arnott 0/3
Kyle Maree vs Karl Hardy 3/2
Michael Shean vs Jamie MacNaughton 3/0
Daniel Thomson vs Chris Green 3/0

SA Knights won 3-2
We had a great dinner and then went to the local bar called Wetherspoon for a pint of Wight Christmas Ale, the local drink. We also shared some good stories and then headed off with our hosts, thanks to Jamie, Callum and Martin Phillips for their hospitality. Martin took some of the guys for a great walk up the mountain to see a great view and a stretch of some sore bodies. MOTM was Kyle Maree for a gritty performance that saw him win 11-9 in the 5th and win the fixture for the Knights.

Thursday 11th of December vs Middleton Sports Club
A more relaxing day saw the team spend some time in Southampton and at the Titanic museum where the guys learnt about captain Phillips and the 2000 passengers. We headed off to Middleton Sports Club at Middleton On Sea where we met up with Brandon Hanley and our opponents. A nice crowd came in to watch the fixture and was able to cheer the home side number 4 and 5 to crucial 3-2 victories, which essentially helped them to win the fixture.
Stefano Garas vs Steve Wykes 1/3
Michael Shean vs Phil Bull 3/0
Kyle Maree vs Brandon Hanley 3/0
Charl Fourie vs Jon Geekie 2/3
Daniel Thomson vs Chris Rand 2/3

SA Knights lost 3-2.
Charl fought hard against a world ranked left handed Scot Jon and Daniel simply couldn’t close out against Chris and unfortunately weren’t able to get a W for the team. Stefano played really well but couldn’t get over the line either as he came up against a top player in Wykes. Kyle played well against 6ft8 captain Brandon who in the words of Dan “He is always one step away from the ball and always on the T”. MOTM went to Michael Shean for a great match in which he controlled the match from the start.

Friday the 12th vs Guernsey
Kyle Maree vs Martin Watts 3/1
Michael Shean vs Janick Radford 3/1
Stefano Garas vs Andrew May3/0
Charl Fourie vs Gary Forino 3/0
Daniel Thomson vs Matthew Robilliard 3/2
The SA Knights won 5-0.
With air traffic controls down our 16h35 flight to Guernsey was put on hold until 18h00. Soon after being put on hold 5 flights from Fly.Be were cancelled but BE633, our flight, was still to go, thankfully. Eventually we left Southampton airport, nearly 2 hours after our original departure time and 15min after the scheduled start of play in Guernsey! Martin Watts and the Guernsey team were kindly flexible, picked us up at the airport and took us straight to the courts for the eagerly awaited match, which had good attendance. After the fixture we felt almost back home as Andy May from South Africa hosted a feast of a braai at his impressive house before we headed to the local club at around 12. The guys preferred to be known as visiting sportsmen to the local girls at the club.
Our second clean sweep, the score line slightly flattering in what was a tough test of the lads. Daniel duck deep after he had a couple match balls in the 4th to eventually take it in the 5th 11-9. MOTM went to Stefano Garas who was clinical in seeing off his opponent in 3 sets.

Saturday 13th vs Jersey
After going two from two at the islands, Isle of Wight and Guernsey, the guys were determined to get a clean sweep of the islands when we came up against Jersey. We were kindly put up in a hotel by Spoor and Fisher and compliments must be made to Nick Taylor who seriously had the whole event perfectly set up and well-advertised. With a rest day the guys were ready to give 110%, not to say we don’t always but we could see the light at the end of the tunnel with a rest day to follow.
The fixture was a 16h30 start so after being helped to our hotel we strolled around and found some food before going back picking up our stuff and heading off to the courts for our fixture. The Jersey locals were in the numbers to support their boys and the evening was well run by the master of ceremonies Trevor Gribbs, although he did get Daniel Thomson and Michael Shean muddled up.
Kyle Maree Vs Nick Taylor 0/3
Michael Shean vs Scott Gaultier 3/0
Stefanos Garas vs Rob Michlins 3/0
Daniel Thomson vs Rob Cornish 3/1
Charl Fourie vs Callum Gribbs 3/2
The SA Knights won the fixture 4-1.
Stef was first on the main court and quickly silenced the 80 plus Jersey supporters with some scintillating drives and “gut wrenching boasts” to win 3-0. On the second court Charl was slugging out with Callum in what was at the time a crucial match, which could have been a swinger in the fixture. At one stage Charl was 2-1 down before he clawed his way back to eventually win 3-2. For this great effort Charl got MOTM. Michael was on the main court and after a tough first game was able to pick off a tiring opponent in three sets and clinch the fixture for the SA Knights. Next up was Kyle Maree who came up against ex world #14 Nick Taylor. Nick was truly professional about the way he went about business and it was great to see the master of his trade play so well. Although the fixture was wrapped up, Daniel Thomson still displayed some great determination and some good skills to win his match in 4 sets. We then went off to the bar for some drinks and a pizza and the night progressed from there onwards to a club opposite our hotel. The Knights send their best wishes to Scott who over the weekend was expecting the birth of his child.

Monday 15th vs Winchester
After our much needed day off the Knights were at Winchester to start the next grueling section of the tour. When we arrived we saw Greg Gaultier, Borjan Golan and a couple other hotshot names, which we thankfully didn’t end up having to play against.
Kyle Maree vs Gary Hilton 3/0
Stefano Garas vs Jon Foster 3/1
Michael Shean vs Adam Corovan 3/2
Charl Fourie vs Ben Thornton 1/3
Daniel Thomson vs Styan Stanton 2/3
SA Knights won 3-2
Daniel and Michael were on first and even though we had just come off a rest day, the guys really battled with sore legs. After going 2-1 up Daniel was unable to close out the match and lost 3-2, Michael went 2-0 up but rolled his ankle in the 2nd and then quickly found himself at 2-2 with a super quick and fit youngster. Lucky Michael was able to close out and won the fixture on not much more than one leg, which turned out fixture decisive. Kyle was lethal and didn’t allow his opponent any chance in match to control the T and was able to win 3-0. This left both Stef and Charl simultaneously on court and the Knights needing one of them to win to close out the fixture. Unfortunately Charl was unable to do so and lost 3-1 to an opponent who had great shots. Stef took the first in convincing style 11-1 before going walk about and losing the next to level the game at 1 all. He was able to win the 3rd but only just before he found himself 9-7 in the 4th. In typical Stef style he left it late and was able to win it 12-10 in the 4th to win the fixture for the team. MOTM went to Michael for his determined performance and although he wasn’t at his best was able to pull through when needed most.

16th vs Bury St Edmonds (Moreton Hall Health)
From Winchester to Bury St Edmonds is a long drive. When there are accidents and traffic it is agonizingly slow and quite painful but we eventually made it! We watched the sun go down and around 15:45 was sunset. We arrived around 5 o’clock at the venue of Moreton Hall Health. As you drive into the venue there is the most beautiful school that really made for a scenic venue to play some good squash. It really makes it feel so much later and you always feel like you playing so late when actually you start at 18h30 or 19h00.
Michael Shean vs Jamie Goodrich 2/3
Stefano Garas vs Owen Taylor 3/0
Kyle Maree vs Ian Cox 3/0
Daniel Thomson vs James Bird 2/3
Charl Fourie vs Martin Levans 3/0
SA Knights won 3-2.
For the first time, we were able to get 4 successive wins in a row!! First on court was the number 4 and 5s and Charl got us off to the finest of starts with a convincing display. Daniel tussled away for another 5 setter. The guys have picked up Dan is here to make the most of the tour and play as much squash as possible even if that means playing 5 setters every day. Unfortunately he went down in this one even though he seemed to be in control of the game. Kyle put on a fine display against what was a crafty player. Stefano was able to bring the fixture home when he calmly beat Owen in 3 sets. Stef was able to win the big points even though it sometimes got nervy. Michael was on last and played some fine stuff to find himself two up. In the fourth he had match ball but his experienced opponent was able to see that off before winning the 5th 11-8. We then had a fine meal and a drink or two before going off with our hosts for the evening.
